Bp. of Nisibis. He was always a prominent figure in Syriac Church tradition, and in later times he acquired a reputation for learning, ability, and holiness. He was present at the Council of Nicaea (325); according to Theodoret he opposed Arius, but Theodoret's account contains anachronisms. Feast day, 15 July.
