US dancer. She studied at the Maryland School of Ballet, the School of American Ballet, and the American Ballet Theatre School, dancing with American Ballet Theatre II from 1978 and joining American Ballet Theatre in 1980, where she was promoted to principal in 1983. She remained with the company until retiring in 2002, dancing the ballerina repertory and creating roles in works such as Tharp's Known by Heart (1998) and Brahms/Haydn Variations (2000), Dove's Serious Pleasures (1992), and Morris's Drink To Me Only with Thine Eyes (1988) and Gong (2001). She also appeared frequently as a guest artist. A dancer of great classical authority, she was especially admired for her performances in Swan Lake and Giselle. She retired from dancing in 2002 after which she founded her own school in Princeton and was appointed to the faculty of ABT's school.
