(1813–99) (Tib., ‘Jam-mgon kong-sprul).

One of the great scholar-monks from eastern Tibet associated with the so-called Eclectic Movement which ushered in a period of religious and intellectual revival in 19th-century Tibet. He received ordination in both the Nyingma andKagyü schools and also many transmissions and instructions from the other schools. He was a prolific writer and compiler of texts who believed that all the religious schools of Tibet including Bön were equal in value.
