Scottish poet and travel writer, born in Renfrewshire, whose works include A Flame in Your Heart (1986, with poet and mountaineer Andrew Greig), a sequence of love poems set in the summer of 1940; The Way We Live (1987), her first full‐length collection; and The Queen of Sheba (1994), which shows her increasingly strong lyric command of Scottish themes and language.
