1 A park in Śrāvastī in which the lay disciple Anāthapiṇḍika constructed a residence for the Buddha and the monks. It was a favourite place of the Buddha's, and he spent nineteen rain-retreats (vassa) there.
2 Temple complex in Anurādhapura (Sri Lanka) founded by Mahāsena. Originally the Jetavanārāma comprised a vihāra (monastery), a large stūpa.and other buildings. The complex was given to the monks of the Mahāvihāra after a protest against a monk named Tissa who had instigated its building.
