(Skt.). ‘Awareness-being’, a term used in later tantric Buddhism to denote the true form of a deity (devatā) as an aspect of enlightenment (bodhi). The awareness being was often summoned to merge with the samaya-sattva, or visualized image of the deity, as a part of the process of worship (pūjā) or self-transformation.
