Dutch-US dancer, teacher, and ballet mistress. She studied with Max Dooyes, Jan Bronk, Graham, and Limón. She danced with several US modern dance companies, including those of Graham, Lang, Hoving, and Butler. In 1962 she joined the Paul Taylor Company, creating roles in many of his works. One of her most memorable roles was the automaton in Big Bertha in which her powerful, chilling presence defined the nightmarish horror of the work. In 1973 she became the company's ballet mistress. She also taught in London at the London Contemporary Dance School and the Rambert School.
