Ballet in one act with choreography by MacMillan, music by Brian Elias, and designs by Jock McFadyen. Premiered 19 Mar. 1992 by the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden with Irek Mukhamedov, Viviana Durante, and Michael Nunn. A quasi-religious story of betrayal set on a modern building site, it was MacMillan's last work for Covent Garden. It won the Olivier Award in 1992, while the television version, directed by Ross MacGibbon, won the 1998 International Emmy Award for Performing Arts.
