A barrister or solicitor appointed to preside in Court Martial proceedings and who is responsible for advising the court on questions of law. He is appointed by the Judge Advocate-General's Department. At the conclusion of the evidence the judge advocate sums up the case to the members of the court. He has no vote on the finding but does vote on sentence.
