An early NASA rocket. Juno 1 launched the first successful US satellite, Explorer 1, in January 1958. The rocket was created by adding a fourth-stage Sergeant engine to a three-stage Jupiter-C rocket. In 1961, the power of the Juno 5 rocket was increased by the installation of a cluster of engines, and it was renamed the Saturn rocket.
