Quick Reference

A collection of verses (literally‘seed’) attributed to Kabīr, comprising the last book in the Kabīr-panthīs' collection, the Khās Granth. The original manuscript is said to be housed in the Kabīr Chaurā Maṭh in Vārāṇasī, where a copy is worshipped as part of the daily ritual. According to modern scholarship, the Bījak is an eastern Indian recension of Kabīr's sayings; it exists in two recensions, but in both cases the text is partly corrupt.
