‘The Discourse of the Saw’. The 21st sutta of the Majjhima Nikāya wherein occurs the memorable image of limbs being amputated by a saw. It is said that a monk should not give way to anger even if he is sawn limb from limb by a two-handed saw (Pāli, kakaca). The text claims that the Buddha himself gave the discourse this title.
