Katanosins A and B are naturally occurring cyclic depsipeptide antibiotics from strains of Cytophaga. They are effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and VanA-type vancomycin-resistant enterococci. The mode of action is through inhibition of transglycosylation in bacterial cell wall peptidoglycan synthesis by blocking the formation of lipid intermediates.
