Quick Reference

A basic refracting telescope which has simple convex lenses for both objective lens and eyepiece, devised by J. Kepler in 1615. It suffers from chromatic aberration, which can be reduced by increasing the focal ratio. For this reason, early telescopes were made extremely long. It was the main form of refractor before the achromatic lens was invented.
