(b Güstrow, 22 Oct. 1785; d Meissen, 1 July 1847).

German painter. After studying at the Copenhagen Academy 1805–8, he settled in Dresden, where he specialized in small portraits set in delicately rendered interiors. They include three similar pictures showing his friend Friedrich in his studio (1811, Kunsthalle, Hamburg; 1812, Staatliche Museen, Berlin; 1819, Kunsthalle, Mannheim).
