Quick Reference

Hindu Indian converts to Shii Islam. Retained the Hindu caste system since they continued to live as Hindus. Three groups resulted: a small minority of Sunnis, some Twelvers, and a majority of Nizari Ismailis who follow the Agha Khan. Today they have formally abandoned Khoja status with Hindu elements in favor of a more universal Ismaili Shiism. Mostly concentrated in Karachi (Pakistan) and Gujrat (India).
