Most distinguished religious scholar in Iran during the Qajar period (1796–1925). Teacher of many of the most prominent Iranian clerics of the early twentieth century. His books remain required reading in Iranian and Iraqi Shii madrasas, and his legal principles are followed by many leading mujtahids in Iran. Khorasani sent telegrams to Iran during the Constitutional Revolution (1905–11), guiding the involvement of ulama in politics.
