A nuclear antigen (pKi-67, PA28γ), recognized by commercially available monoclonal antibody Ki-67, that is expressed in proliferating but not in quiescent cells and often used as a marker for tumour cells. It is a component of the proteosome activator protein complex PA28. Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) produce autoantibodies against a variety of nuclear antigens including Ki antigen.
