(Leipzig, 1768–1843, Dresden), a lawyer practising in Dresden, devoted himself, from 1817, to periodical journalism, editing the Dresden Abendzeitung for a time with Theodor Hell, and later the monthly Die Muse. He is best known as the author of the libretto of Weber's opera Der Freischütz (1821).
