This design consultancy was founded in Milan by Perry King and Santiago Miranda offering expertise across a wide range of services, interiors, and product types. These ranged from consumer goods to furniture, lighting, and telecommunications, with expertise in research and innovation also playing a key role in the company's activities. King had studied industrial design in the UK, moving to Italy in 1964 to work for Olivetti, where he collaborated with Ettore Sottsass and Miranda. Miranda had graduated from the School of Applied Arts in Seville, moving to Milan in 1971, where he was employed as a consultant to Olivetti. King‐Miranda's clients have included— Akaba, —Arteluce, Black & Decker, Ericsson, Fiat, Flos, Olivetti, and Expo '92 in Seville. Both partners have connections with design education, King as professor at Milan Polytechnic and visiting professor at the Royal College of Art and Miranda also as professor at Milan Polytechnic and Member of the Scientific Committee of the European Institute of Design in Madrid. They have also been recognized through awards, King being elected as Royal Designer for Industry in 2000, Miranda winning the Premio Nacional de Diseño (Spanish National Prize for Design) in 1989 and the Andalucian Prize for Design in 1995.
