Quick Reference

The inactive plasma precursor of kinin. High molecular weight kininogen (Williams–Fitzgerald–Flaujeac factor, 626 aa) is enzymically inactive but acts as a cofactor for the activation of kallikrein and Hageman factor in the intrinsic pathway of coagulation. Low molecular weight kininogen is an alternatively spliced product of the same gene and, like the high molecular weight form, is an inhibitor of cysteine peptidases.
