She made a major contribution to social work education and the professionalization of social work in her role as director of the Carola Woerishoffer Graduate Department of Social Economy and Social Research at Bryn Mawr College from 1915 to 1936 (today, Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research).
