US dancer. He studied at the University of Wisconsin and in 1969 became a founder member of the Milwaukee Ballet Company. In 1971 he went to New York to study with Cunningham and joined his company in 1972. Here he created many roles and later took over several of Cunningham's own roles in, for example, Winterbranch and Signals. In 1973 he also became a teacher at the Merce Cunningham Studio and went on to stage numerous Cunningham works in Europe and America. In 1992 he became assistant artistic director of the company.
