US dancer. She studied locally and at the School of American Ballet, joining New York City Ballet in 1995. An unusually tall, slender, and supple dancer with a huge extension and lyrical line, she was given principal roles even while a member of the corps de ballet. In 1999 she was officially promoted principal, and in the same year created a role in Blossom Got Kissed, Susan Stroman's contribution to the Ellington ballet Duke! In addition to dancing the standard Balanchine and Robbins repertory she has also created roles in works by several other choreographers including Martins, Bigonzetti, Elo, Wheeldon, and Eifmann. She has guested with the Kirov and Munich Ballet.
