Soviet ballet critic and historian. She studied with Vaganova at the Leningrad Choreographic School and graduated into the Kirov in 1933. In 1941 she left and in the same year published her first press article, becoming a faculty member of the Leningrad Theatre Institute in 1951. Her many publications include detailed histories of Russian and Western ballet, as well as critical biographies including V. Chabukiani (1956), Nijinsky (1974), and Agrippina Iakovlevna Vaganova (1989).
