Austrian-Israeli dancer, choreographer, and teacher. She studied at the Vienna State Academy and between 1928 and 1950 performed recitals of her own expressionist choreography, touring in Europe and Israel, both alone and with her group. In 1935 she founded the Gertrud Kraus Dance Company in Israel, and additionally ran her own school, based in Tel Aviv (1935–73). Many of the country's best-known dancers trained with her. In later years she was also active as a painter and sculptor.
