Austrian dancer, choreographer, and director. He studied at the ballet school of Graz Theatre, and joined the company in 1959, moving to Bremen (1960) and then Cologne (1962). From 1968 to 1979 he was ballet master at the Bremen theatre and created numerous works, many with powerful, anti-establishment messages, including PIGasUS (1970). He was then in Heidelberg (1980–89), back in Bremen as director of his own company (1989–94), and finally in Berlin. He has also worked freelance as choreographer and theatre director.
