Quick Reference

Course of brick or tile, or several such courses collectively, built, often at regular intervals, in rough or rubble walls as a bond- or bonding-course, and to assist the creation of level horizontals. In walls of knapped or ordinary unknapped flint pebbles lacing-courses are essential for stability, and are usually combined with piers of brick, tile, or stone to secure panels of facings bound to the core of a wall.
