Family of chewing lice which are parasitic on birds of the orders Anseriformes and Falconiformes, and on the hoatzin (see Opisthocomidae). The family includes the largest of all lice, some being as long as 11 mm. There is only one genus in the family, Laemobothrion, the three subgenera of which each parasitize one of the three host groups. There are 14 species.
