S. African dancer and teacher. She studied in Johannesburg and at Sadler's Wells School, joining Sadler's Wells Theatre Ballet in 1947, becoming principal in 1948, then moved to the Royal Ballet as soloist (1955–68). A petite, musical dancer and gifted actor she created roles in several MacMillan ballets including Somnambulism (1953), Laiderette (1954), Danses concertantes (1955), and Diversions (1961). She also created roles in Ashton's Valses nobles et sentimentales (1947) and Ondine (1958) and Cranko's Prince of the Pagodas (1957). In 1966 she danced with Ballet Rambert and after retiring from the stage taught at the Royal Ballet School before moving to Cyprus where she opened her own school in Kyrenia. She was married to dancer David Blair.
