Norwegian-British dancer. She studied with Craske and Tudor and made her debut with Tudor's London Ballet in 1938, where she created the role of the French ballerina in his Gala Performance (1938). She then danced with Ballet Rambert, International Ballet, and Sadler's Wells Ballet (from 1944), becoming soloist there in 1954. While a graceful classical dancer, she became best known as one of the Royal Ballet's mimes, outstanding in roles like the mother in Giselle. She was a senior teacher with the company and was married to the dancer Harold Turner.
