Toxins found in the venom of widow spiders Latrodectus spp. There are five insecticidal toxins, termed α, β, γ, δ, and ε-latroinsectotoxins, and a vertebrate-specific neurotoxin, α-latrotoxin (1401 aa). α-Latrotoxin forms multimers and creates pores that allow calcium influx and release of neurotransmitters from synapses.
