(1939– ).

German landscape-architect. With his wife, Anneliese, he created a public park in the ruined industrial port at Saarbrücken (1979–89), incorporating some parts of the remaining buildings. On a derelict site in Duisburg the firm designed a park to interpret the history of the town's industrial past, notably its cast-iron works. Another major scheme is the arboretum and park in Luxembourg in which natural features and powerful geometries are juxtaposed (1991–2000). Latz and his wife have been interested in ecological problems, and have worked on the landscaping of housing with several architects.
