A genus of xerophytic shrubs which have narrow, leathery leaves. The nectar from their flowers makes good honey and the plants produce an aromatic oil that is used in perfumery. There are 20 species, occurring on islands in the Atlantic, the Mediteranean region, Somalia, and India.
