The generic name given to a group of theorems relating to the behaviour of for large *n*, where {*X*_{i}} are independent random variables, usually identically distributed. For example, says that for a sequence of independent, identically distributed random variables, the sequence of sample means of the first *n* random variables will converge to the population mean μ with probability 1.
