A protective patient covering equivalent to 0.25mm lead used when taking dental radiographs. It is only required when the primary x-ray beam is aimed directly at the reproductive organs i.e. for a vertex occlusal radiograph. There is a recommendation to offer the use of a lead apron in pregnancies for its psychological benefit.
