The tenth-closest satellite of Jupiter, distance 11 150 000 km, orbital period 240.5 days; also known as Jupiter XIII. Its diameter is about 10 km. It was discovered in 1974 by the American astronomer Charles Thomas Kowal (1940– ). Leda is a member of the Himalia group of Jovian satellites.
