French dancer. He studied at the Paris Opera Ballet School and entered the company in 1980, where he was promoted étoile in 1986. A stylist of considerable wit and subtlety he remained with the company until 2009, dancing both the classical and modern repertories and creating roles in several ballets, including France/Dance (Forsythe, 1983), Magnificat (Neumeier, 1987), and Sylvia (Neumeier, 1997). He also guested with other companies including performances of Onegin with Stuttgart. In 1996 he founded his own occasional touring group, giving opportunities to younger dancers and in 2010 became artistic director of the Vienna State Opera Ballet and its associate school.
