In the 1560s Lekpreuik's Edinburgh press was the most productive in Scotland. His Foirm na nUrrnuidheadh (1567), a translation of the Book of Common Order, was the first work published in Gaelic. Appointed ‘our soverane lordis imprentar’ by 1568, he received a pension from the Kirk in 1570. After his flight from Edinburgh in the early 1570s, he printed at Stirling and St Andrews.
