(b ?Plash, Shropshire, c.1565; d London, July 1622). English editor and composer. finding himself in ill repute and debt, he attempted to show ‘the least part of my unfained and true repentance’ by publishing a collection of penitential songs entitled The Teares or Lamentacions of a Sorrowfull Soule (London, 1614), with works by himself, Bull, Byrd, John Milton, Martin Peerson, and others.
