Polish logician and philosopher, and together with Łukasie-wicz and Kotarbinski, founder of the Warsaw school of logic. Lesniewski combined researches into formal problems such as Russell's paradox with a profound metaphysical bent, intending to design a logical system which could be a foundation for all knowledge. He is especially remembered as the pioneer of mereology.
