French-Brazilian dancer, choreographer, and ballet mistress. She studied with Egorova and others and made her debut at Paris Opera Comique in 1937. In 1938 she danced with Ballet de la Jeunesse, then from 1939 with Original Ballet Russe as a principal. She left for Rio de Janeiro in 1945 and appeared with various companies before becoming ballet mistress, dancer, and choreographer with the city's Teatro Municipal in 1950. Here she created many works and re-staged the classics, becoming artistic director (with Jorge García) in the late 1970s. She also founded her own school in the city. She subsequently worked as freelance ballet mistress, reviving Massine's Les Présages for Paris Opera (1989), Joffrey Ballet (1992), and Australian Ballet (2007) and his Choreartium for Birmingham National Ballet (1991).
