In psychoanalysis, any stage or phase of psychosexual development when libido is focused specifically on one erotogenic zone and in which one mode of object-relationship predominates. Also called a libidinal phase or a psychosexual stage. See anal stage, genital stage, latency period, oral stage, phallic stage, polymorphous perversity. See also fixation (2), regression (2).
