ligand-induced endocytosis

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

The process by which many soluble extracellular ligands are taken up by cells by the formation of coated pits and then coated vesicles. Binding of the ligand to the receptor is usually, but not invariably, the trigger for clathrin and associated proteins (coatomers) to bind the cytoplasmic portion of the receptor.
