Ballet in two acts with choreography by Bournonville and music by W. Holm. Premiered 19 Feb. 1871 by the Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen. It portrays the Kings Volunteers flirting with local peasant girls as they stand guard against the British navy. The principal character was based on the musician Édouard du Puy, a notorious rake.
