(1547–1627), Italian painter, born in Verona; he migrated to Florence, where he was appointed court painter to the Medici family in 1575, in which capacity he painted a cycle of frescoes depicting the history of Florence in the Salone del Cinquecento in the Palazzo Vecchio. He was also an accomplished draughtsman; many of his drawings are preserved in the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.
