(née Eltenton; b Manchester, 3 Jan. 1933)
British dancer. She studied with Koslov in Hollywood and at the Sadler's Wells School, joining Sadler's Wells Ballet in 1951. She was promoted to soloist in 1954 then principal in 1958 and created roles in several ballets, including MacMillan's Noctambules (1956) and Agon (1958) and Cranko's Prince of the Pagodas (1957). She retired in 1965 but as Lady Sainsbury became an influential force in British ballet. She was co-editor (with Crisp and Brinson) of Ballet Rambert: 50 Years and On (London, 1981).
