An image (mūrti) of a four-armed Śiva emerging from a blazing liṅga which represents an infinite column of light. A particularly popular image in South Indian temples, it is derived from a Purāṇic myth in which Śiva, by means of the infinite liṅga, demonstrates to Brahmā and Viṣṇu that he is greater than both of them.
