A local government central body created by the UK local authority associations to coordinate the enforcement activities of trading standards departments and other regulatory services enforcing such things as: metrology, petroleum and explosives, consumer credit, product safety, under‐age sales, fair trading, animal health and welfare, consumer advice and education and Civil Registration (including the registration of births, deaths, and marriages and other related services such as citizenship ceremonies, partnership registration, etc.), food safety and standards including labelling, sampling, and analysis, food imports and exports, health and safety at work, alcohol and public entertainment licensing, and gambling reform.
