Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Movement of sand and shingle along the shore. It takes place in two zones. Beach drift occurs at the upper limit of wave activity, and results from the combined effect of swash and backwash when waves approach at an angle. Movement also occurs in the breaker zone, where currents transport material thrown into suspension.
